I remember my very first date with the women who I am now married to. I wanted to do something romantic, but a storm changed my plans. I had plans to take her to a nice restaurant. It was on a day where the sun had been shining brightly all day. It wasn't under later that night that a terrible storm came and totally put a damper on our plans.

I didn't have an umbrella when I got to her house so I got soaked while I was ringing her doorbell. She had just went to the salon for the date, and she didn't want to get her hair wet so she insisted that we stay in. It was okay though because the expensive restaurant was way out of my budget. What we eventually decided to do what order take out and rent a movie on demand. The Chinese food that we ordered was great. We felt bad about getting someone to come out in such a terrible storm to bring food so we gave a big tip. I was impressed that he had managed to keep the food from getting soaked.

This wasn't the most romantic evening that I had conjured up, but I enjoyed it because we really got a chance to talk. The rain kept coming down hard and she fell asleep in my arms before the movie was over. I watched a little more television and eventually fell asleep on the couch myself. When I woke up the sun was out again and she was smiling while handing me a plate of pancake. It was the longest first date I have ever had. It was not at all the way that I had planned it, but it turned out better than I could ever have imagined.
